How to use AiMixUp

Short, step by step guides for the things people actually ask about: building assistants, Smart Folders, sharing chats, exporting to PDF, and managing credits.

Getting started

Sign up, find your way around, and run your first AI conversation.

Create an AiMixUp account

Sign up with email or Google in under a minute. You start on the free plan with a small credit balance. No credit card required.

  1. 1Open the sign up screen. Go to https://aimixup.com and click "Get started" in the top right. Or open the AiMixUp Android app and tap "Create account".
  2. 2Choose how you want to sign up. Use email and password, or continue with Google. Both land on the same account.
  3. 3Confirm your email. Open the confirmation email and click the verification link. You're signed in and ready to chat.
  4. 4Pick a plan later. You start on the free plan. You can upgrade or top up credits any time from Settings, then Billing.

Start your first chat

Open the chat list and send a message to any AI model in seconds.

  1. 1Open the chat list. From the home screen, tap the "+" button to open the chat composer. Or pick "New chat" from the side menu.
  2. 2Choose a model. Use the model selector at the top to pick OpenAI GPT, Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google), Grok (xAI), or DeepSeek. You can switch models in the middle of a conversation.
  3. 3Type your prompt and send. Type a question or instruction and hit "Send". The reply streams in token by token. You can stop it any time and ask a follow up.
  4. 4Rename the chat. Tap the chat title to rename it so you can find it later in the list.

Pick the right AI model

AiMixUp gives you OpenAI GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and DeepSeek in one place. Choose by the job, and switch any time inside a chat.

  1. 1Open the model selector. At the top of any chat, tap the current model name to see the full list. Each model shows a short note about what it's good at.
  2. 2Match the model to the task. Claude is great for long form writing and careful reasoning, GPT is a strong all rounder, Gemini is cost effective for bulk work, and Grok or DeepSeek are good value alternatives.
  3. 3Switch mid conversation. You can change the model in the middle of a chat. The new model keeps the conversation so far as context, so you can start cheap and escalate only when you need to.
  4. 4Pick an image model for pictures. Image capable models appear in the same selector. Choose one to switch the composer into image mode.
Assistants (custom agents)

Build reusable assistants with their own instructions, model, and personality.

Create a custom assistant

An assistant is a saved persona with a name, a system prompt, and a default model. Open it in any chat and the persona is applied for you.

  1. 1Open the Assistants section. From the side menu, tap "Assistants", then "Create new".
  2. 2Give it a name and an avatar. Pick a short, clear name like "PDF summariser", "SQL helper", or "Marketing copywriter". Upload an avatar if you want.
  3. 3Write the system prompt. This is the instruction the AI follows every time you chat with this assistant. Be specific. Describe the persona, the tone, the kind of answers you want, and any rules it should obey.
  4. 4Pick a default model. Choose the model that fits the job. Claude is great for long form writing, GPT for general tasks, Gemini for cheap bulk work. You can override the model later in any chat.
  5. 5Save and use it. Save the assistant. From the chat composer, pick this assistant and start chatting. The system prompt is applied automatically.

Find a ready made assistant in the marketplace

Browse community assistants instead of writing your own.

  1. 1Open the Marketplace. Side menu, then "Assistants", then "Marketplace".
  2. 2Search by topic or model. Filter by category (writing, coding, marketing, research, fun) or by model.
  3. 3Try it. Tap an assistant card, then "Use". A new chat opens with that assistant's system prompt already applied.
  4. 4Fork it. Want to tweak the prompt? Tap "Duplicate". You get your own copy you can edit freely.
Smart Folders

Group chats by project so the AI keeps context across all conversations.

Create a Smart Folder

A Smart Folder is project level memory. Every chat inside the folder shares the same long term context.

  1. 1Open the Folders panel. Side menu, then "Folders", then "New folder".
  2. 2Name the folder. Pick a project style name like "Q1 Marketing Plan", "Tax 2025", or "Master thesis".
  3. 3Add a folder level instruction (optional). You can add a description or a system prompt that applies to every chat inside the folder. Useful for project rules, terminology, or reading material.
  4. 4Create chats inside the folder. Open the folder and tap "New chat". Anything you discuss is added to the folder context, so the AI remembers earlier conversations.
  5. 5Move existing chats in. From any chat's "…" menu, choose "Move to folder" and pick the folder.

Add reference files to a folder

Attach PDFs, DOCX, or notes once at the folder level. Every chat in the folder can answer with that context.

  1. 1Open the folder. Side menu, then "Folders", then tap the folder name.
  2. 2Open folder settings. Tap the gear icon. You'll see a "Knowledge" or "Files" tab.
  3. 3Upload files. Drag in PDFs, DOCX, XLSX, or plain text. We parse them inside our own infrastructure (no third party file processor) and store them as searchable context for every chat in this folder.
  4. 4Ask questions. Open any chat in the folder and ask: "What does the contract say about cancellation?" The AI answers from the folder's files.

Connect data sources to a folder

Beyond one off file uploads, add data sources to a folder so their content is scanned, indexed, and searchable for every chat inside it.

  1. 1Open the folder, then its settings. Side menu, then "Folders", tap the folder, then the gear icon.
  2. 2Open the Data sources tab. Add a data source and upload or import the material you want the folder to know about. Imported files are virus scanned before they're indexed.
  3. 3Let it index. We extract the text and make it searchable for the whole folder. Larger sources take a little longer.
  4. 4Ask across everything. Any chat in the folder can now answer from the combined files and data sources, with citations back to the source.

Generate a Wiki for a folder

Every Smart Folder can write its own Wiki: a living overview of the project built from its chats, files, and data sources.

  1. 1Open the folder Wiki. Inside a folder, open the "Wiki" tab. The first time, tap "Generate" to build it.
  2. 2Read the overview. The Wiki summarises what the project is about and links out to the chats, files, and Kanban items it drew from.
  3. 3Refresh when things change. Tap "Refresh" after you add new chats or files. Generation runs in the background, so you can keep working while it rebuilds.
Files and document analysis

Send PDFs, Word docs, and spreadsheets straight into a chat.

Upload a file into a chat

Attach a PDF, DOCX, or XLSX and ask the AI to summarise, extract data, or answer questions.

  1. 1Open or create a chat. You can attach files to any chat, whether it lives in a folder or not.
  2. 2Tap the paperclip or attach button. Pick a file from your device. We support PDF, DOCX, XLSX, TXT, MD, CSV, and most image formats.
  3. 3Wait for parsing. We convert the file to text inside our own infrastructure (no third party processor). It usually takes a few seconds.
  4. 4Ask the AI. Try "Summarise the main argument." "Extract every contact email." "What's the total revenue in Q3?" The AI uses the parsed text to answer.

Export a chat or project to PDF

Save a chat or a whole Smart Folder as a single PDF you can share or archive.

  1. 1Open the chat or folder you want to export. From the side menu, navigate to the chat or open the Smart Folder.
  2. 2Open the export menu. Tap the "…" menu in the top right of the chat, then "Export". For a whole folder, open folder settings, then "Export".
  3. 3Choose PDF. Select "PDF". Pick what to include: attachments, AI replies only, or the full transcript.
  4. 4Download or share. The PDF is generated on the server. When it's ready, tap "Download" or use "Share link" to send a private link.
Sharing

Share a chat with someone outside your account, read only.

Share a chat with a public link

Generate a read only public link to a chat. The person you send it to doesn't need an AiMixUp account.

  1. 1Open the chat. Side menu, then tap the chat you want to share.
  2. 2Open the share dialog. Tap the "…" menu, then "Share".
  3. 3Enable public link. Toggle "Anyone with the link can view" on. We generate a unique URL like https://aimixup.com/shared/<id>.
  4. 4Copy and send the link. Tap "Copy link" and send it via email, Slack, or wherever. The recipient sees the chat in read only mode.
  5. 5Revoke when done. Open the share dialog again and toggle it off. The link stops working immediately.
Images and creative tools

Generate and edit images, and do quick web research from a chat.

Generate an image

Use DALL·E or GPT-Image inside a chat to create an image from a prompt.

  1. 1Open or start a chat. Image generation lives in the same chat as text. There's no separate screen.
  2. 2Switch to an image model. From the model selector, pick an image capable model like DALL·E or GPT-Image. The composer switches to image mode.
  3. 3Describe the image. Be specific about subject, style, mood, and format. For example: "A flat illustration of a fox reading a book, pastel colours, white background, square."
  4. 4Send and download. The image appears in the chat. Tap to enlarge, download, or share. Each generation costs a small number of credits. The composer shows the price tag.

Edit images in the Image Studio

Image Studio is a dedicated canvas for creating and refining images, instead of doing it inline in a chat.

  1. 1Open Image Studio. From the side menu, open "Studio". You get a canvas with a prompt box and image tools.
  2. 2Generate a starting image. Describe what you want and generate. Be specific about subject, style, mood, and format.
  3. 3Refine with image to image. Use the generated picture as the base and ask for edits — change the background, restyle, or adjust details. The Studio keeps your previous versions.
  4. 4Download or reuse. Download the final image, or send it into a chat. Each generation or edit costs a small number of credits, shown before you run it.
Billing and credits

Plans, credit balance, top ups, and refunds.

Check your credit balance and top up

Credits are the in app currency. Each AI request costs a small number of credits, depending on the model and the length of the answer.

  1. 1Open Settings, then Billing. Tap your avatar, then "Settings", then "Billing".
  2. 2See your balance. Your current credit balance is at the top, with a chart of recent usage.
  3. 3Pick a plan or top up. If you're on a paid plan you can top up extra credits any time. Free users start with a starter balance and can upgrade from this screen.

Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan

Change plans or cancel any time from Billing. Paid plans refill your credits automatically each period; cancelling stops the next renewal.

  1. 1Open Settings, then Billing. Tap your avatar, then "Settings", then "Billing".
  2. 2Change your plan. Pick a higher or lower tier. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated; downgrades apply at the next billing period.
  3. 3Cancel if you need to. Choose "Manage subscription", then "Cancel". You keep access until the end of the current period, then the plan stops renewing.
  4. 4Resubscribe later. You can re-enable a plan any time from the same screen. Your chats and folders stay in place while you're on the free plan.
Account and security

Password reset, account deletion, and privacy basics.

Teams and collaboration

Share a workspace with teammates, chat in groups, and manage contacts.

Create a workspace and invite your team

A Workspace lets several people work under one shared plan and credit pool. You invite members by email and pay per seat.

  1. 1Open Settings, then Workspace. Tap your avatar, then "Settings", then "Workspace". Create a workspace if you don't have one yet.
  2. 2Invite a member. Tap "Invite member" and enter their email. They get an invitation link. Pending invites appear in the list so you can resend or cancel them.
  3. 3They accept and join. Once they click the link and sign in, they join your workspace and inherit its plan automatically.
  4. 4Manage seats and billing. Open the Billing section of the workspace to add or remove seats. Team plans are billed per seat and everyone draws from the shared credit balance. Seat changes are prorated.
  5. 5Remove someone. From the members list, open a member's menu and choose "Remove". They lose access to the shared workspace immediately.

Start a group chat

  1. 1Open the new chat wizard. Tap "+", then choose "Group chat".
  2. 2Add people. Pick the teammates or contacts you want in the room.
  3. 3Add assistants (optional). Add one or more AI assistants so they reply to the whole group. Skip this step for a human only chat.
  4. 4Start talking. Everyone in the room sees the conversation. Mention or prompt an assistant and it answers the group.

Add or remove a contact

Contacts are people you've connected with so you can start direct messages and add them to group chats.

  1. 1Open a profile or direct message. Find the person from a shared chat or by opening a direct message with them.
  2. 2Add contact. Tap "Add contact" to connect. They now appear in your contacts list for quick access.
  3. 3Remove contact. Open the contact's menu and choose "Remove contact". Your existing message history stays, but no new messages are exchanged. It does not delete their account.
Voice and video calls

Call teammates in real time, share your screen, and transcribe or record.

Start a voice or video call

Calls run in real time in the browser and the mobile app. You can switch the camera on or off and share your screen.

  1. 1Open a chat. Open a direct message or a group chat with the people you want to call.
  2. 2Start the call. Tap the call button and choose voice or video. The other participants get an incoming call ring.
  3. 3Share your screen (video calls). During a video call, tap "Share screen" to present. Tap it again to stop.
  4. 4Leave. Tap the red hang up button to leave. The call ends for everyone once the last person leaves.

Transcribe or record a call

Turn on live transcription and recording during a call. Both use AI and cost a small number of credits while active.

  1. 1Open the call controls. While in a call, open the controls bar at the bottom.
  2. 2Turn on transcription. Tap "Transcribe" to get a live speech to text transcript of the conversation as it happens.
  3. 3Turn on recording. Tap "Record" to capture the call. A recording indicator shows while it's running.
  4. 4Find it afterwards. When the call ends, the transcript and recording are saved privately to the chat so you can review or share them.
Desktop app

Install the Windows desktop app and run small models locally.

Install AiMixUp for Windows

Download the Windows desktop app and sign in with the same account. It can also run small AI models locally on your machine.

  1. 1Download the installer. Go to https://aimixup.com and download the Windows desktop app, or use the download link in the footer.
  2. 2Run the installer. Open the downloaded file and follow the prompts. If an update can't replace a file, fully close AiMixUp first and run the installer again.
  3. 3Sign in. Use the same email and password (or Google) you use on the web. Your chats and credits sync automatically.
  4. 4Run a model locally (optional). The desktop app can run small open models on your own machine for basic chat without a cloud call. Frontier models still run in the cloud.
